So yes, Nick and I are moving to KC and neither of us technically has a job. :/
I have this fellowship pretty much lined up but the lady who runs it is having a hard time getting grant money to fund the project, but I think it is going through—just slowly. Anyways, she wants me to stop by the newsroom once I move into town so that I can meet them and they can meet me. Then we’ll go from there. That sounds promising, yes? Or am I being a little delusional with this one?
Anyways, my backup plan was just to work at Panera for a while until something full time came along. I called the Panera that is located literally a block from our new apartment, and they said that they just hired a bunch of people and that there won’t be space for me unless some people leave, and that I should contact them again once I move to town.
So that’s two jobs that could either happen or not happen at all.
Then, Zoé is trying to talk up Nick for a manager’s position at the Tivoli, since our new apartment is literally a block away from there too (it’s a block away from everything! it’s true!), and he has management experience. Problem is that Zoé’s hours have been cut so she’s only working like once a week, and the hiring manager is never there when she’s working. Although, the Tivoli really likes to hire their friends and stuff, so I think he’d have a good shot at that job if Zoé ever gets to talk to that guy.
In the meantime, I’m applying to full time jobs constantly. At least one per day. No luck yet with responses.
THIS WHOLE SITUATION IS BOTH EXCITING AND TERRIFYING AT THE SAME TIME.
Luckily, we have enough money to live for a couple months, and hopefully the whole job thing pans out in our favor. Also, our apartment is really cheap, so there won’t be too much strain hopefully.
